Aartwerk Studio is a relaxed and playful environment in which creative development and camaraderie are paramount. Chatter and constructive conversation are encouraged (when the teacher is not speaking), and kids are asked to state their opinions, support each other, and even advise their peers. What’s more is that the class actively contributes to the syllabus by helping the teacher select some of the projects they will work on. As we are encouraging our little (and not so little) students to cultivate their creative language and integrity of thought, we also teach them responsibility. Children above 7 clean their brushes and palettes and help their friends and teacher when help is needed.

Arrivals: Please arrive five min early; instructors will start their lectures promptly at the beginning of each class.
What to bring and what to wear: Please try not to come in nice clothes. We have aprons, but accidental splashes do occur.
Switching between groups: Changing a group is not allowed throughout the duration of a course.
Cancellations: You may cancel your reservation up to 2 weeks prior to the start time of the course. You may choose to be fully refunded or to attend another course of the same (or lower) value.
Special cases: If your child is prevented from attending more than 1/3 of a course for which you registered on account of prolonged illness or personal calamity, we will try to accommodate you by giving you AARTWERK credit. Keep in mind that non-timely cancellation may result in taking someone else’s spot; thus you will need to demonstrate the seriousness of your circumstances.

Classes for this age group are designed to introduce children to basic principles and concepts of visual art through playful and creative projects. These include color theory, elements and principles of design, and important art movements and famous artists. Children will not be overwhelmed with information, but rather work on projects that are designed to excite curiosity and cultivate understanding through creative exercises.

However, the quality and amount of material taught, as well as the projects done, are raised to a higher level to conform with the abilities and interests of more mature children.

SUMMER ART CAMP 2023

This summer, creative fun is coming to Edgewater! Aartwerk Studio is looking forward to making new friends. Covertly educational, our weeks will be filled with art, fun, and relaxation!

HOW WILL WE BE SPENDING OUR DAYS?
- Creatively! We will paint, draw and make. We will be working on multiple projects: some will be shorter and completed the same day, while others will be more intricate, and stretch through the week. With every project, kids will learn about art, artists, art movements (and more), and take home their masterpieces, knowledge and fun memories!
- We will take a fifteen minute snack-and-play break every hour and a half, during which we will move to our play area. Depending on the group's dynamic, this will involve music and light physical activity (such as stretching, dancing and games).
- At noon, we will take a break for lunch and a story (kids should bring their own lunch—please, no nuts!).
- At the end of the week, we will have an exhibition of the children's work, during which they will share their thoughts and feelings about each-others' artwork. We will also talk about things we learned during the week, and give away diplomas for the work done!
If you are interested in signing up for half days (mornings 10am -12pm, afternoons 1pm - 3pm), please send us an email or give us a call at (773) 217-6604 a week before the camp start date. Half day registrations will be contingent on spots available.
ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED.
Cancellations: $50 cancellation fee will be charged in case of cancelling 21 days before (or more) before the camp in question. There will be no refund if cancelations are made 20 days (or less) before the camp.
*Please note that the camps might be cancelled if there are less then 3 participants registered for the week.

KIDS PARTIES
Make a truly unique party for your little one!
Not only will kids get as messy and happy as they like, but it will not be in your house, and we will love it! All children will have their own piece of artwork to take home, and the Birthday Kid will take on the title cool next to his/her name. Like Cool Joe, or Cool Amy. Who knows, maybe you will become Cool Mom, or Cool Dad… if you cater some hot pizza.
If there is over 15 children at your party, the birthday boy/girl paints for free!
The length of the party will depend on the complexity of the project you choose, and the amount of additional time you may want for cake and play. Yes, they can totally run around or dance! We'll arrange a play area away from the work space. Furthermore, you are free to come 30 minutes early to set up your party. We will help!

SCHEDULING: Please call or email us and let us find a time that works for you, together. Think in advance! For you, we are ready to reschedule a class that has no registered students yet! Except for our ongoing courses. Those are set in stone.
DEPOSIT: The $150 deposit is due on the day the reservation is made. The deposit will go towards your final payment and will not be refunded in the event that the Party is canceled less than 10 days prior to the scheduled date.
PAYMENT: The full Party fee is due 24 hours before the event.

PRIVATE CLASSES
Private classes entail one-on-one work. The instructor will design the syllabus based on your child's interest and skill level. The class can be held in the studio, at your home or any other suitable place (like the museum or park).
SEMI-PRIVATE CLASSES
Semi-private classes are perfect if you cannot align your schedule with our course schedule and have friends with kids who would like to join. This option is more affordable then a private class, yet, the small size group and your choice of material taught ensures quality of a private session.
